Vassar gymnasts place first at the Vassar Invitational today against Fraser, St. Johns, and Cass City high schools. The team came in with a 132.275, a season high for the team.
Taking the top all-around spot was Lydia Chapelo (Caro) with a score of 34.65. Also placing in the top ten for all-around were Sydney Histed (Reese – 33.6) in third, Calista Bickel (Frankenmuth – 33.4750) in fourth, and Adria Ray (Vassar – 29.775) in ninth.
Chapelo brought home first place finishes in the vault (8.85), bars (8.625), and floor (9.075) competitions. Histed brought home a first place finish on beam (8.825), third on floor (8.875), fifth on bars (7.450) and fifth on vault (8.45). Bickel came in second on vault (8.8), fourth on bars (7.6), third on beam (8.375), and fourth on floor (8.7).
Other top ten finishers for the vault were Ray in sixth place and Madison DuBois (Vassar) in eighth place. On beam, Ray brought home a seventh place finish. Hannah Findlay (Reese) came away with an eighth place finish on the floor.
The next meet for the gymnasts will be Thursday, February 15th against Linden-Fenton-Lake Fenton.
