The Vassar varsity football team travelled to Imlay City Thursday night to take on the Spartans in the first game of the season. The game was suspended near the end of the 3rd quarter due to lightning and resumed Friday morning. Vassar got behind early but made a comeback Friday and got it down to a touchdown but wasn’t able to tie the game losing 27-19. Offensively Max Kukulski threw 3 touchdowns: 18 yards to Monte Davis, 66 yards to Ethan Dunham and 75 yards to Nathan Foess. For the game he was 7 of 14 for 185 yards. Leading receiver was Nathan Foess with 2 catches for 84 yards; Ethan Dunham had 2 receptions for 76 yards. Leading rushers were Caleb Bables with 8 carries for 42 yards and Monte Davis with 4 carries for 42 yards. Defensively Connor Rayment led with 8 tackles; Ethan Dunham, Aaron Bartles and Blake Kerr had 7. The Vulcans have a home game next Friday against Bad Axe.
