In the first game of the GTW doubleheader against Reese on Tuesday night, the Vulcans fell after a late surge by the Rockets. After jumping out to a 9-2 lead, Vassar gave up a total of nine runs in the final two innings and fell to their conference foe by a score of 11-10.
Ethan Dunham got the start in game one for Vassar and pitched 4.2 innings, allowing five hits, two earned runs and tallying six strikeouts. Ricardo Macon and Jacob Preston combined to finish the last 2.1 innings in relief of Dunham. Three of the final nine runs scored by Reese were unearned.
The offense was driven by Dunham, Macon, and Addison Hansard who each collected two hits. Hansard collected three RBIs and Dunham added two of his own. Five other Vulcans collected one hit in the contest.
