In game one of the doubleheader against Millington on Monday night, Manee Mendham collected a walk-off single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Vulcans to a 3-2 victory. The winning run was able to cross the plate as Mendham’s hit went just out of reach of the Millington shortstop and snuck through to the outfield.
Jacob Preston got the start on the mound and pitched well on the night. Preston gave up only two hits, three walks, and struck out three in route to his fourth win of the season. The defense behind Preston also played well, making two double plays and only one error.
Ethan Dunham led the offense with two hits, while Ricardo Macon and Mendham each had one RBI each. Blake Kerr and Dylan Hubbard also added a hit a piece to the Vulcans’ total.
