In Vassar’s first home game of the 2019 varsity baseball season, Vassar triumphed over Capac by a score of 4-3 via a walk-off in the bottom of the sixth inning. Vassar held the lead most of the game before Capac jumped ahead by one run in the fifth inning. With the game tied in the bottom of the sixth inning, Luke Albrecht laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners from first and second into scoring position. On the play, a wild throw to try and get the runner out at third allowed the runner to get back up and cross the plate to win the game for the Vulcans.
Ethan Dunham was sharp on the mound for the Vulcans during the contest. In five innings pitched, Dunham allowed two hits, zero earned runs, and struck out six batters. Jacob Preston came on in relief during the sixth inning and collected two strikeouts, as well as the win. The Vassar offense was paced by Max Kukulski who was three for three at the plate with two triples and two RBIs. Addison Hansard collected two hits in the contest, while Ricardo Macon and Blake Kerr also tallied one hit a piece.
