Vassar High School
The girls traveled to USA for a league doubleheader. Emilee Whitney took the mound in the first game for the first 3 innings walking 7, striking out 2 and allowing 4 hits. Rian Hornung came in to pitch the last inning, walking 6 and allowing no hits. Whitney led the offense with two doubles resulting in 2 RBIS. Maria Bertoia also chipped in a single. The girls came up short losing 14-2.
The second game the girls came out swinging with Sadie DuBois and Laney Deming both leading with a double and a single resulting in 3 RBIs each. Whitney also chipped in with another double and a single. Hornung started on the mound, striking out 1, walking 7 and allowing only two hits in 1 2/3 innings. Whitney finished the five inning game striking out 6, walking 9 and allowing 2 hits. The Vulcans came out on top 16-12.
The girls head to North Branch on Saturday for the JV Invitational.
